Chopper Twirls Out of Control into Palm Fronds at Frequented California Beach
A helicopter hovering near a crowded California coastline unexpectedly started spinning out of control, eventually losing altitude and crashing into a row of palm groves as beachgoers looked on.
Recordings uploaded on the internet show the helicopter starting to spin over Huntington Beach then descending towards the perimeter of the coast, where it becomes wedged between palms and a set of stairs adjacent to the Pacific Coast highway.
Emergency Response Information
Local firefighters reported five people were rushed to the hospital including two individuals who were in the chopper and were “rescued from the debris” subsequent to the crash on the weekend.
Three persons on the pavement were harmed. Details on their injuries were not yet released.
The cause of the crash was not yet disclosed.
